Continuing Education (CE) Program Description & Goals

Moringa commits to course offerings that help psychologists to meet CE requirements for licensure as well as maintaining professional competence. The audience for these presentations consists of psychologists and allied mental health professionals seeking to deepen understanding of current research, particularly (but not exclusively) in the area of serving individuals with developmental disabilities and co-occurring mental illness.  

The Moringa Institute seeks to fulfill all guidelines set by the American Psychological Association (APA) for continuing education for psychologists including the recognition that “Continuing education (CE) in psychology is an ongoing process consisting of formal learning activities that:

  • are relevant to psychological practice, education and science.;
  • enable psychologists to keep pace with the most current scientific evidence regarding assessment, intervention and education as well as important legal statutory, or regulatory issues; and
  • allow psychologists to maintain, develop, and increase competencies in order to improve services to the public and enhance contributions to the profession.

The Moringa Institute seeks to provide affordable, quality CE program content to post-doctoral psychologists and allied mental health professionals to further promote learning and implementation of current evidence-based practices. To that end, offerings will meet one of following criteria:

  • develop psychologists’ knowledge base and competency in a particular topic areas;
  • work toward presenting offerings that increase psychologists’ experience with interdisciplinary approaches; and
  • Increase psychologists’ skill set in a particular topic area relating to consulting, assessment, intervention or evaluation.

A particular focus of Moringa’s Continuing Education Program is to integrate expertise in evidence-based assessment and interventions for people with disabilities and those who support them.
